Kawasaki recently launched its newest middle weight contender, Versys 650 in Indian two-wheeler market at INR 6.60 lakh. The bike has been placed above its other 650cc siblings, Kawasaki 650 and ER-6N. Here are the top 10 facts you need to know about this latest motorcycle.
The Kawasaki Versys 650, also known as the KLE650, is a middleweight motorcycle. It borrows design elements from dual-purpose bikes, standards, adventure-tourers and sportbikes; sharing characteristics of all, but not neatly fitting into any of those categories.
Based on Kawasaki’s same 650cc platform
The Versys is based on the same platform as Kawasaki's other 650cc twin motorcycles, the Ninja 650R and the ER-6n. It shares the same electronics, engine, wheels, brakes and main frame as its siblings. Where it differs is in riding position, rear sub frame, suspension components, and engine tuning.
Introduction
It was first introduced in the year 2007and to the US market in 2008. A California emissions compliant version was released in 2009. In 2010 new styling was applied to the headlight and faring and several functional changes made including enlarged mirrors and improved rubber engine mounts. In 2015, a new model was introduced with a new fairing style that abandoned the older, stacked headlights for the more conventional twin headlight style commonly found on sport bikes.

Riding position
The compact engine and slim frame result in a design that is narrow at the knees and feet. Re-positioned foot-pegs offer a more relaxed position, making it easier for riders to spend more time in the saddle.
Adjustable windscreen
The larger windscreen with a 60 mm range can be adjusted without tools, allowing riders to tailor their wind and weather protection. With this windscreen, not only does this help reduce wind noise and helmet buffeting, but it also creates a serene space behind which high-speed riding can be enjoyed.
